Landfill - Waste & Recycling Centre

The Waste & Recycling Centre (Lethbridge landfill) is a modern integrated waste management facility which serves the City of Lethbridge and the surrounding regions. Safe disposal, recycling and composting services are available for both residential and commercial customers.

Daily Information

Summer Hours: April 1 - October 31
Monday - Saturday, 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Winter Hours: November 1 - March 31
Monday - Saturday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Closed on all statutory holidays except Family Day (the third Monday in February). Open Boxing Day.

During periods of high winds, the landfill may be closed to prevent litter from being carried to neighboring properties.  Some services will remain open so during windy days it is a good idea to contact 311 before your trip to confirm.

The Waste and Recycling Centre is located at 213044 Township Road 100, Lethbridge County, Alberta.

Follow 28 Street North until the road bends to the right (approximately 7 km out of town).  The Centre is located just after the bend, on the left-hand side of the road.

The Waste & Recycling Centre is home to the following waste storage and processing facilities:

  • Safe disposal at the non-hazardous waste landfill

Compost and Recycled Aggregates

​The City of Lethbridge recycles concrete, asphalt, porcelain and brick & block into aggregate products. Recycled aggregate products are available for sale to private contractors and the public, along with compost and shredded wood. These products are a great choice for any project and the Waste & Recycling Centre offers a range of materials to meet your construction and landscaping needs.

FAQs

Every Saturday, year-round, Lethbridge residents can dispose of up to 250 kg of their additional household and bulky waste items at the centre for free. For waste exceeding 250 kg, tipping rates apply.

The Waste & Recycling Centre offers tours targeted at Grade 4 students to introduce them to all of the ways that Lethbridge collects and manages all the waste and garbage produced on a daily basis. If you’re a teacher teaching within Lethbridge or the surrounding Lethbridge county, call 311 to find out more about the tour itself and how you can book one during our tour months (April and October)!

All loads entering and exiting the Waste & Recycling Centre must be secured to prevent waste and litter from spilling or blowing off of vehicles onto roadways and ditches. Read more...
