Replacing the Mt. Blakiston playground

Some things don’t get better with age. Wine? Yes. Playgrounds? No. With that in mind, the City of Lethbridge is replacing the playground in Mt. Blakiston Park. The play area was installed in 1999 and has come to the end of its life cycle.

The new outdoor play area will have fun activities and challenges designed for kids aged two to 12. Some of the key features include:

  • Climbing elements, including a new ‘ninja wall’.
  • Bridges.
  • Play panels.
  • Monkey bars.
  • A spinner.
  • Pea gravel surfacing.

The project begins May 12 and the new playground should be ready for use by May 30, weather permitting. More information can be found on the Lethbridge WebMAP.

Fencing will be installed around the construction site. The public is asked to stay away from the area to keep themselves and workers safe.

We thank the outgoing playground for its 26 years of service, and we are excited to welcome Mt. Blakiston playground 2.0!
