Community Event Support Grant
The City of Lethbridge recognizes the value of special events and the contribution they make to the vitality of our community. The funding is not intended to directly support ongoing operations or financial sustainability of the applicant organization.

2025
The following events and funding amounts were approved through the Community Event Support Grant (CESG) during the 2025 intake periods:
- January 31, 2025 Intake: $57,075.66
- May 31, 2025 Intake: $33,993.33
- September 30, 2025 Intake: $40,255.71
Total CESG funding awarded in 2025: $131,324.70
Please note: The total awarded amount exceeds the annual CESG budget of $97,500.00. This variance is attributed to several factors, including:
- Withdrawal of approved applications from the 2024 or 2025 intake periods
- Return of unused funds due to surpluses or profits reported in final event reports
- Lack of response from applicants during the award process (e.g., no communication regarding first or second payments)
- Non-compliance with the 90-day final report submission deadline
These factors resulted in the reallocation of funds, allowing additional support for eligible community events throughout the year.

Funding amount
The maximum grant awarded would be matching cash financial contributions to a maximum of $7,500 and not exceeding 50% of the event expenditure budget and actuals. Because funding is limited, all organizations that meet the eligibility criteria may not be supported or receive the full amount requested. This determination will be based off the scoring results. Applicants will be notified of their scoring results two weeks after the application deadline.

You can use grant funds for the operation of your event or for services and facility rentals provided by the City, including:
- Special Events staff labour costs for setup and take down
- Logistical services such as traffic signs and barricades
- Transportation by City transit
- City facility rental
- Police and/or Fire services
