2024 Day of Mourning to honour victims of workplace tragedies

Each year on April 28, people across Canada and the World stop to remember workers who have been killed, injured, or suffered illness as a result of work related incidents.

This National Day of Remembrance offers an opportunity to honour coworkers, friends and family and to collectively renew our commitment to fostering safer workplaces in our city.

This year we will be observing the Day of Mourning on Monday, April 29. Lethbridge residents are invited to join the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 70 and the City of Lethbridge at a Day of Mourning Wreath Laying Ceremony.

Monday, April 29, 2024, at 12 p.m.

The National Day of Mourning was officially recognized by the Canadian government in 1991, eight years after the day of remembrance was launched by the Canadian Labour Congress. The Day of Mourning has since spread to about 80 countries around the world.
