Canada Day 2024

It’s a 157th birthday party fit for a nation!

The City of Lethbridge is hosting two events to celebrate Canada Day on Monday, July 1.

Galt Gardens has activities running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A charity breakfast, hosted by the Interfaith Food Bank, goes until noon. Other activities include a Show & Shine, an artisan market and a Tipi & Indigenous education area.

The celebration at Henderson Lake Park kicks off at 11 a.m. It will feature returning and new events. Crowd favourites include food trucks, a youth market and main stage entertainment. New activities feature stilt walkers and an educational magic show. Fireworks will end the celebration at 11 p.m. (So long as Mother Nature cooperates!) Confirmation of the fireworks will be posted on the City’s social media channels and announced at the event as soon as a final determination is known.

Both locations will showcase many cultures.

“We’re excited to offer multi-cultural events,” says Janessa Brown, co-chair of the Canada Day planning committee. “It’s important to honour our City’s diversity. We want attendees to feel welcomed and represented as we celebrate Canada’s birthday.”

The City is pleased to offer free extended transit service. The 3 cityLINK Green and 4 cityLINK Orange will transport people to Henderson Lake Park beginning at 7 p.m. Both routes will also be available after the fireworks display.
