Ten-year, $1 million sponsorship will see complex renamed Cavendish Farms Centre
Cavendish Farms is the new title sponsor of Crossings Leisure Complex
The City of Lethbridge is excited to announce Cavendish Farms as the new title sponsor for the Crossings Leisure Complex (formerly ATB Centre). It will now be named the Cavendish Farms Centre. The City of Lethbridge and Cavendish Farms have entered a ten-year sponsorship agreement for $100,000 a year.
"Cavendish Farms is proud to support communities where our employees live and work. This $1 million commitment will help the City of Lethbridge and its partners deliver curling, skating, hockey, aquatics, fitness, and gymnasium programs along with childcare, child play and recreation facilities," said Robert K. Irving, President of Cavendish Farms. "Complexes like these are the heart of the community, bringing people together for a variety of purposes. We're thrilled to give back in a city that means so much to our organization, employees, and local potato growers."
Cavendish Farms cemented its position in Lethbridge's business community when the company announced the construction of a new frozen potato processing plant in North Lethbridge in December 2016. The $430-million investment was the largest by a private company in the City of Lethbridge's history. The new plant's grand opening was in October 2019.
"Cavendish Farms is a major player in the global food industry and they are a highly respected, community-minded business," says Lethbridge Mayor, Blaine Hyggen. "We are so proud and grateful that they have planted roots here in Lethbridge and that they continue to give back to our community in such a generous way."
The facility will begin rebranding to the Cavendish Farms Centre name immediately with new signage being installed inside and outside the building over the next several weeks.
"We also want to take the opportunity to thank ATB Financial for their sponsorship of the facility over the last 6 years," says Mayor Hyggen. "It's the commitment of businesses like ATB and Cavendish Farms that helps make our community thrive."
ATB was the title sponsor of the facility from 2016 to 2021 with the agreement extending to 2022 due to closures during the pandemic. This initial five-year agreement was worth $402,800.
Sponsorships help support the operations of the facility, reducing the need for property tax funding from residents.
