City eager to celebrate community and partnerships at Coulee Fest

Don’t put your summer clothes into storage just yet!

The City of Lethbridge is excited to partner with Lethbridge Polytechnic during Coulee Fest, the institution’s annual end-of-summer party which runs this Saturday, September 14, from noon to 5 p.m. While the festival is a great way for new and returning students to jumpstart their fall semester, it’s also the perfect opportunity for the entire community to connect, support local organizations and have fun.

The day is full of entertainment geared for all ages, including a display of some of the City’s familiar four-wheeled friends in the Big Truck Zone. And there’s no shortage of things to see and do on top of that: from markets and local vendors, to live music, a petting zoo, Monster Truck rides and a robo-dog named Steel, the stage is set for an action-packed afternoon.

“We’re thrilled to showcase some of our fleet at Coulee Fest,” says Michael Rice, Transit Services Delivery Supervisor at the City of Lethbridge. “This is a great way for the public to interact with and learn about the many vehicles Lethbridge Transit uses to get community members from A to B. And it’s a great way for us to show our support of Lethbridge Polytechnic and this incredible event.”

In addition to Lethbridge Transit, the City’s roster of big rigs at Coulee Fest includes vehicles from Waste and Environment, Electric Operations, Transportation Operations, Lethbridge Police Service and Fire and Emergency Services. City staff will also be there to engage with attendees and educate them on the different types of vehicles.

“This year, we’re excited to take our partnership with the City of Lethbridge to the next level by welcoming several of their vehicles into our Big Truck Zone,” says Stephanie Savage, Alumni & Engagement Manager at Lethbridge Polytechnic. “Attendees will get the chance to explore some of the vehicles that keep our community running smoothly year-round.”

Beyond getting in on the fun, the City is helping to keep our community clean by supplying waste collection carts. This is part of an ongoing effort to divert recyclables and organics from our landfill.

“The City’s support goes far beyond event assistance, like the incredible resources they provide for Coulee Fest,” says Savage. “We’re grateful for their event rentals and services, but what truly stands out is the unwavering commitment to our students and community.”

Coulee Fest is also a celebration of the community and partnerships within the city.

“Whether we realize it or not, Lethbridge is a campus town, and our relationship with Lethbridge Polytechnic supports the growth and development of community members in lots of ways,” says Perry Stein, Partner Services Manager at the City of Lethbridge. “As public servants, we know a thing or two about community pride because it guides our work each day. Events like Coulee Fest are a great way to celebrate what makes our community so special.”

“It’s an opportunity for everyone to experience our campus in a fun environment to help build lasting connections for the future and leave a positive impression of our institution,” says Savage.

Admission to the festival grounds is free. For more information about Coulee Fest, visit Lethbridge Polytechnic’s website.
