Community Capital Projects Grant deadline approaching

Do you know a local registered not-for-profit organization who is planning to renovate or expand their space? We have a great opportunity for them!

The City is encouraging applications for the Community Capital Projects Grant (CCPG). The CCPG offers eligible organizations grant funding to:

  • New facility construction;
  • Facility expansion;
  • Retrofit of an existing facility space;
  • Facility technology upgrade;
  • Major equipment.

Eligible projects are funded on a one-third matching basis. This means the organization must have additional sources of funds to complete the project, with one-third of total project costs (to a maximum of $200,000) coming from CCPG and two-thirds from other sources.  The grant structure is designed to be aligned with the Alberta Government's Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP), which can be leveraged for a portion of the matching requirement. Planning assistance may also be funded through CCPG on a one-half matching basis for professional fees (to a maximum of $15,000).

The CCPG is funded with $400,000 annually through the approved City operating budget.

In 2022, the CCPG funded eight projects ranging in costs from $14,654.05 to $107,625.00. Funding projects included retrofits for accessibility and energy efficiency, capital equipment, roof replacement, fencing and lighting, playground equipment and safety equipment.

The Chinook Child and Youth Advocacy Centre was one of the CCPG projects that was awarded funding in the 2022 intake. The much-needed community service supports children and youth with specialized supports. The Chinook Sexual Assault Centre successfully applied for the grant to retrofit the space for a total of $70,708.66, with the City contributing $14,654 towards the retrofit.

The application deadline for the CCPG program is 4:30 p.m. April 28, 2023. For more information and application forms, please click here and for additional questions, organizations can email grants@lethbridge.ca.
