Council Highlights March 21, 2023
- Lethbridge City Council voted unanimously to have the Mayor's Office again declare April 7 as Green Shirt Day. Mayor Blaine Hyggen says he wants to keep bringing this item to Council annually, rather than as a one-time declaration, to continually highlight Logan Boulet's impact. - An official business motion from Councillor Belinda Crowson and Councillor Jeff Carlson on Election Signs within Road Right of Way was referred to the April 27 Governance Standing Policy Committee meeting
- Council voted to direct Administration to prepare an amending bylaw to capture changes to the Taxi Rates and Regulation Review Update. Administration is also to provide a report to the Community Safety SPC by Q3 on the future of taxi regulation. Taxi companies are to be engaged as part of that report
- Council voted unanimously to approve the submission of the 2022 Code of Conduct Compliance Report to the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC)
- Council voted unanimously to approve the Downtown Lethbridge Business Revitalization Zone 2023 Budget Decision
- Council voted to receive as information a report on the Unaudited 2022 Year End Financial Information
- In a 5-3 vote against, following a Public Hearing on Bylaw 6399 - Land Use Bylaw Amendment re: 1020 12 A Street South, the proposed Land Use Bylaw amendment was defeated. It would have allowed for the development of four residential units designed to appear as a duplex
