Crews respond to early morning fire Christmas day

Just after midnight on December 25, Lethbridge Fire & Emergency Services responded from three stations to a structure fire in the 200 block of Stafford Drive North.

Initial crews arriving on scene found several 45-gallon barrels with oil filters and residual oil products on fire at an oil change business. These barrels then caught the adjacent gas meter on fire. The line supplying the gas meter melted, causing a large fire on the side of the building.

Thanks to their quick work, fire crews were able to limit the damage to the building, working with ATCO Gas to stop the flow of gas to the building before fully extinguishing the fire.

Damage is estimated at $10,000.00. There were no injuries reported.
