Fallen Firefighters Memorial taking place Wednesday

On Wednesday, September 11, Lethbridge Fire & Emergency Services will host the annual Fallen Firefighter Memorial Parade and Ceremony.

This memorial is held to remember those who lost their lives in the line of duty during the past year and to acknowledge and celebrate the dedication and sacrifice of all uniformed personnel who serve their communities.

The parade will be led by the Honour Guard and the Pipe Band, starting at 10:15 a.m. at Fire Station #1, located at 207 4 Avenue South. Uniformed members will march eastbound along 4 Avenue South through downtown to the Southminster United Church, where the memorial service will commence.

Volunteer and professional firefighters, sheriffs, police officers and correctional staff will attend, along with representatives from federal, provincial and local governments.

Members of the Lethbridge Police Service will block intersections along 4 Avenue during the march, briefly interrupting traffic flow through downtown.

This event is open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to join in paying their respects and remembering those who have given their lives in the line of duty.
