Fire crews quickly contain early morning structure fire

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) responded to a residential structure fire at the 600 block of 8 Street South at 4:46 a.m. on Monday, March 10. 

Crews from four stations were dispatched, with 20 firefighters responding. Upon arrival, crews found a fire on the home's back porch, rapidly spreading toward the attic. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire using hose lines, preventing further damage to the home. Residents were safely evacuated. 

No injuries were reported. Damage is estimated at $105,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

LFES reminds residents to practice fire safety and ensure smoke alarms are installed and functioning properly in all sleeping areas.
