Get ready to stream local sports with LiveBarn
It’s a new era for sports viewing in Lethbridge.
Families, friends and fans can now stay more connected to amateur and minor sports, thanks to the introduction of LiveBarn in Lethbridge. The platform provides live and on-demand broadcasts of local amateur sports, at no cost to the City.
LiveBarn is now streaming from Henderson Ice Centre, Labour Club Ice Centre, Nicholas Sheran Arena, Logan Boulet Arena and both arenas at Cavendish Farms Centre..
The streams are motion-activated, meaning all events are available for streaming. Certain programs can be excluded by request.
Mike Tajiri, Facility Operations Manager, expects LiveBarn will be a popular feature in southern Alberta.
“We’ve heard for a long time that a lot of people, especially families, want to watch minor sports events when they can’t be there in-person,” says Tajiri. “Now, family and friends can cheer on their favorite young players from anywhere in the world.”
Susan Eymann, Executive Director of Lethbridge Sport Council, notes the platform’s benefits for local coaches and athletes.
“It’s a great resource for both coaching and promoting youth ice sports,” says Eymann. “Coaches can review footage to analyze team play and support athlete development. And athletes have a new way to highlight their skills for scouts and recruiters.”
LiveBarn streams from more than 1,900 venues across North America. Officials are happy to add Lethbridge’s buildings to that roster.
“Our city has great facilities,” says Tajiri. “We’re excited to show them off to audiences who may otherwise never see them.”
LiveBarn is available by subscribing on the website or downloading the app on any iOS or Android device. Users can enter the promo code ‘leth-live’ to a receive a 10 per cent discount when signing up.
