Honouring Earth Day with action and fun!
Residents are encouraged to come together and celebrate the environment and our community! On Saturday, April 26, gather at Legacy Regional Park for a day filled with hands-on activities, educational opportunities and meaningful environmental action.
Experts from the City of Lethbridge, Helen Schuler Nature Centre and Environment Lethbridge will share information on several initiatives:
- Climate Adaptation Strategies – See how we’re preparing for climate change and how you can help.
- Caring for the Urban Forest – Learn why urban trees matter and how to care for them, especially in dry weather.
- Adopt-A-Park - Discover how you can help maintain your favourite green spaces by adopting a park, playground, shrub bed or green strip.
- Storm Drains & Yellow Fish Road - Discover how storm drains help protect our water and prevent flooding.
- Living Cities program – Learn simple ways to save water and create a drought-friendly yard.
Join the activities:
- Community Litter Clean-Up – Help us beautify Legacy Park! All supplies will be provided.
- Lethbridge Taiko Drum Association – Enjoy a performance at 11 a.m. outside the pavilion!
- Verdant Quest – Join in the litter clean-up and get your secret code word to earn April’s badge!
- Compost and Mulch Giveaway – Free compost and mulch, encouraging sustainable gardening practices. While supplies last. Please bring your own bins and shovels. Households are limited to 40 litres (10 gallons) of compost.
The event runs Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
