House fire at Cabot Landing West causes injuries

An investigation continues into a west Lethbridge residential fire that left two people injured.

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) responded to a residential structure fire on Cabot Landing West on Friday, October 4 at approximately 4:33 p.m. Crews from four fire stations responded to the scene after neighbours heard smoke alarms and called 9-1-1.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a kitchen fire in the residence.  The fire injured two residents. One was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, and the other was in critical but stable condition. Damage to the residence is estimated at $10,000. The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.

LFES reminds residents of the importance of functional smoke alarms, especially during Fire Prevention Week (October 6-12). Residents are encouraged to check their smoke alarms, practice fire escape plans and avoid distractions while cooking.
