Lethbridge Fire & Emergency Services get Hurricanes fired-up for charity
Get ready for a rink-rocking, heart-stirring Friday night as the Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club blaze onto the ice at the ENMAX Centre to bring the heat for a good cause.
The City of Lethbridge's Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) department is teaming up with the Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club on a unique game night to raise funds for charity. It's more than a game – it's a mission to spark awareness about essential public safety, ignite dreams in aspiring firefighters and paramedics and raise funds for the Lethbridge Firefighters Charity Association.
The Hurricanes will don custom jerseys, inspired by the bravery and resilience of Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services. These exclusive, one-of-a-kind jerseys will be auctioned off post-game, with proceeds fueling the noble efforts of the Lethbridge Firefighters Charity Association.
This association champions the spirit of giving and community support. From sponsoring local families during Christmas to the heartfelt Blankets for Seniors program, their mission is to provide care and support for those in need. The charity has raised more than $400,000 since 2007 and would love to see that number increase with the community’s help.
“We're really looking forward to meeting the people in our community who we proudly serve,” says Greg Adair, Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services Chief. “Plus, cheering on the Hurricanes makes for a fantastic Friday night of family fun, especially for a cause that brings our community together and supports such a worthy charity.”
LFES responds to approximately 30,000 calls for help every year. Employing more than 250 men and women from Lethbridge and surrounding areas, the faces residents see in their time of need are the friends, family members and neighbours our community know and trust.
The night will be electrified with the stirring sounds of the Lethbridge Firefighters Pipes and Drum Band, leading the players in a march of pride and passion, while Fire and Emergency Services members entertain during intermissions.
Younger fans are in for a treat too! They'll get a chance to feel like little heroes with their own replica firefighter helmets, meet the lovable Sparky the Fire Hound, and even snap a selfie with a real fire truck.
“We are thrilled to partner with Lethbridge Fire and EMS for this special game night,” said Hurricanes General Manager of Business Operations, Terry Huisman. “Last year we had great success with our Lethbridge Police Service game night, and we were able to help raise money and awareness and we are excited to be able to extend that same opportunity and partnership this season with Lethbridge Fire and EMS.”
