Lethbridge’s River Valley fire ban remains in effect
The City of Lethbridge’s River Valley fire ban remains in effect.
The wildfire danger in Lethbridge remains EXTREME. Ongoing heat, low humidity and wind are creating conditions that fuel intense wildfire behaviour. New wildfires can spread rapidly under these conditions.
Residents are reminded that the ban does not apply to backyard fires. Currently, residents are permitted to have fires in backyard fire pits using clean, dry firewood.
Additionally, residents are reminded of the dangers posed by discarded smoking materials. Avoid disposing of smoking materials into dry vegetation, such as planters and ditches. Always use proper containers and ensure smoking materials are completely extinguished.
It is critical to respond promptly to any new wildfire starts. Early detection allows firefighters to respond quickly and initiate suppression efforts. If you spot a wildfire, please report it immediately by calling 911.
