Local adventures to brighten your holiday break!
The holiday season involves a lot of hustle and bustle, but there can also be a lot of down time. Thankfully, this season is chock-full of family activities to keep you engaged and entertained in Lethbridge!
1. Brewery gardens are lit
Brewery gardens are once again in full Christmas mode. Check out the great display of lights courtesy our creative City staff. While there, enjoy amazing views of the River Valley, the University of Lethbridge and the High Level Bridge.
2. Connect with nature
The Nature Center is extending its hours to accommodate families looking to fill holiday schedule gaps. Join the staff daily between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. from December 27 to January 4.
Playstations Unplugged returns this holiday season. From December 31 – January 4, challenge your family and friends at one of the fun activity stations or playing a nature inspired board game.
Busy Builders is also back this year. The creative project invites exploration through building and crafting with diverse materials. Uncover the limitless enjoyment of loose parts play. Busy Builders runs December 27 – 30.
You can also learn all about our local watershed, rivers and reservoirs. The Water Ways exhibit dives into the vital role of water and its impact on every facet of our daily lives.
3. New Year’s at the library
Celebrate the arrival of 2025 with the whole family! The Lethbridge Public Library hosts the New Year’s Eve Masquerade Party. Dance along to a live DJ, enjoy tasty snacks and win exciting prizes on December 31 from 1- 3 p.m. in the Theatre Gallery at the Main Branch.
4. Rock your way into 2025
Once the kids are partied out, the grown-ups can continue their New Year’s celebrations at the Agri-food Hub & Trade Centre. The NYE Classic Rock Trilogy will ring in 2025 with the power of rock ‘n’ roll. Get the night started with Suite 33, sing along to your favourite Bon Jovi covers with Runaway and end the night with a farewell tribute to Lethbridge’s own rock legends The Chevelles. The night includes a prime rib buffet dinner, party favours and midnight champagne.
5. Cheer on the boys of winter
The Lethbridge Hurricances return from their holiday break to host the Calgary Hitmen on December 27 at 7 p.m. Following road games in Medicine Hat and Red Deer, the team returns to the friendly confines of VisitLethbridge.com Arena on January 3 to battle the Edmonton Oil Kings at 7 p.m.
