Mayor serves up a successful Community Barbecue
Thank you, Lethbridge!
Following the parade on Tuesday, Mayor Blaine Hyggen celebrated the return of Whoop-Up Days with the first Mayor's Community Barbecue. Thanks to a group of sponsors, 1,300 people outside Lethbridge City Hall on 4 Avenue were fed a free lunch.
Musician Trevor Panczak and his band entertained the crowd with a full concert set on the steps of City Hall during the event, while champion chuckwagon driver Kris Molle, who won the Calgary Stampede's Dash for Cash last month, was on hand for autographs.
"Thanks to our wonderful community coming together, this turned into a really fantastic day," says Mayor Hyggen. "Everyone I spoke with was having a great time and genuinely happy to be out at a fun community event."
In addition to the food, music and face painting for kids, City of Lethbridge staff were able to provide information about the coming 2023-2026 Operating Budget engagement plans, as well as recruitment efforts for Lethbridge City Council's Boards, Commissions and Committees, to almost 100 residents.
"We have already had a lot of amazing feedback and I look forward to hosting more great community events in the future," says Mayor Hyggen.
