No ‘tanks’: keep propane out of your carts

As many residents start packing up their camping gear for another year, the City’s Waste & Environment department is reminding residents to keep the old propane tanks out of their curbside collection carts.

Hazardous materials such as propane tanks can pose a serious risk to staff when disposed of incorrectly. Hazardous household waste should never be placed in your carts and need to be disposed of properly at the Waste and Recycling Centre in the designated area.

Alternatively, many propane tanks are refillable and can be returned to participating retailers.

If you are unsure about how to dispose of an item, you can contact 311 or use the waste wizard. For more information on putting your waste in the right place, residents can find answers at https://curbside.lethbridge.ca/.
