Roses are red, violets are blue, seasonal jobs at the City are waiting for you!

Are you looking to work outside in fresh air, with a great group of people and the summer sun on your face? We’re hiring!

Seasonal positions are the perfect opportunity for students looking to earn some money during their spring and summer break, or for anyone looking for a change of scenery over the warmer months.

“Every spring we look to hire a number of positions to join our public operations teams,” says Shannon Brezina, Talent Development Partner. “You get to work outside in the gorgeous weather with a team of great people, serving your community and helping to make Lethbridge a better place to live.”

Positions available with the City include labourers in Parks & Cemeteries, Transportation Operations and Water & Wastewater teams. There are also positions available with the Waste & Environment and Helen Schuler Nature Centre teams.

“If you are someone who is reliable, responsible and brings your best to work every day, we want to hear from you,” says Erin McIlwraith, Parks Operations Coordinator. “You don’t necessarily need prior field experience to work with us. Ultimately, we want to work with people who understand and are committed to gaining the trust and respect of our community.”

Seasonal positions are also an excellent stepping stone into a career with the City, says McIlwraith.

“I started my career with the City as a labourer in 2004. Since then, I’ve worked in a few positions which led to my current full-time, permanent position as the Parks Operations Coordinator,” says McIlwraith. “The City is a great place to work as there are always opportunities to learn and grow in different areas of the organization. Plus, knowing you’re bettering the place you, your friends and family call home, gives me a huge sense of pride and satisfaction.”

Anyone wanting to apply must have:
•    A valid unrestricted class five operator’s license with no more than five demerit points;
•    A current driver’s abstract;
•    High school diploma or equivalent; and
•    Be able to work shifts and weekends as assigned.

This year's new initiative to help job seekers looking to work for the City, is a two-day job fair. An in-person fair will take place on March 11 at the Cavendish Farms Centre and a virtual version on March 12, to accommodate job seekers unable to make the on-site event. More information will be released to the City’s website and social media channels in the coming weeks.

A full list of available positions with the City is available at Lethbridge.ca/careers with more being added as they are available.
