Whoop-Up Drive bridge rehabilitation moves forward with concrete pour

Speeds will be reduced on a portion of Whoop-Up Drive this week for concrete pouring.

Beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, September 23, crews will pour high-performance concrete for the bridge’s expansion joints. To minimize vibration and ensure the integrity of the pour, westbound motorists will be subject to a temporary speed reduction.

  • Westbound traffic will be reduced to 30 km/h while driving over the bridge.
  • Signage will alert motorists ahead of the work zone, with two reminder signs within the zone.
  • The reduced speed limit is expected to be in place until Friday, September 26.
  • Drivers are asked to slow down, follow posted signage and exercise caution while crossing the bridge.

The concrete pour does not impact the peak hour lane changes introduced on August 20. Two westbound lanes will continue to open from 2 – 8 p.m. to accommodate the afternoon and evening commute. Eastbound traffic on the bridge is limited to a single lane during these times.

Thank you for your cooperation in observing posted speed limits for the safety of workers and the long-term durability of this vital infrastructure.
