Whoop-Up Drive lane reductions continue from June 10-14

Crews were busy this week with pothole patching on Whoop-Up Drive. Next week, our ongoing Transportation Operations’ work will involve bridge maintenance.

From June 10-12 (4 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day), bridge maintenance work will impact westbound lanes on Whoop-Up Drive. On June 13 and 14 (4 a.m. to 7 a.m. each day), work will shift to eastbound lanes.

The work involves single lane closures, so two lanes will remain open to traffic. Speeds will be lowered to 60 km/h in each work area. Motorists are asked to drive with care and follow all posted signage.

The project is available on the City’s WebMap for further information. The WebMap is a dynamic online platform designed to enhance accessibility and streamline information for residents. The map provides residents with accurate and up-to-date information on road closures, facility closures and city projects and initiatives.

More work is also planned for Whoop-Up Drive this summer. Starting in early July, and estimated to last until Labour Day weekend in September, weather permitting, bridge rehabilitation work will take place on the westbound portion of the Whoop-Up bridge. The work will involve single lane closures on the westbound lanes, so two lanes will remain open to traffic.

Additionally, guardrail work is being planned for July 22-23 for westbound lanes and July 24-25 for eastbound lanes.

More information and further reminders on these other projects will be issued in the coming weeks.

Our Transportation team is in frequent contact with the Province on their Highway 3 overlay work this summer to ensure we coordinate any reductions on our river crossings.
