Whoop-Up Drive rehabilitation project update – north lane closure begins Friday, July 12

With the continuation of the Whoop-Up Drive bridge rehabilitation project, work will be moving from the centre lane to the north lane of Whoop-Up Drive westbound beginning Friday, July 12.

Traffic will be directed to merge around the lane closures. The work on westbound lanes is expected to be complete by approximately Labour Day weekend in September, weather permitting.

How motorists can help:

  • Add extra time to your commute to help reduce frustration due to delays
  • Be courteous to other drivers. Reduce wait times by taking turns entering the lane reduction area. Learn how to zipper merge
  • Reduce speed for your safety, and the safety of community members who are working onsite
  • Follow all posted signage and traffic controls

Stay up-to-date on road work, detours, and closures:

  • Residents are encouraged to check the WebMap and allow for additional time to get to their destination to help reduce road construction frustration. The map provides residents with accurate and up-to-date information on road closures, facility closures and City projects and initiatives
  • Lethbridge motorists can check for existing traffic delays by checking the new Whoop-Up Drive traffic cameras before making their bridge-crossing commute
