The eApply system caches the information you enter until the end of the application process when your permit is created. Clicking the ‘Back’ button interrupts this system, and you will need to restart your application. 

You can make changes to your application on the ‘Confirmation’ step. From there, use the small blue underlined links to navigate back to any step of the application. 

The search bar only recognizes Canada Post abbreviations, e.g. Avenue is “AVE”, Boulevard is “BLVD”, South is “S”.

Less is more when searching for an address. If your full address is 910 4 Avenue South, try entering “910 4 A”. The search bar will dynamically return a list of each property that matches the criteria you entered. Select your address from that list to continue to the next step. 

New Building Construction
A building with up to four dwelling units (i.e. duplex, triplex, fourplex) is classified as a Residential structure

A building with five or more dwelling units is classified as a Commercial/Industrial/Multi-family structure

A retail, wholesale, fabrication, restaurant, storage, hotel, etc. building having any number of units is classified as a Commercial/Industrial structure

Alteration/Renovation to Existing Building
Any work performed within an isolated dwelling unit contained in a building is classified as Residential
Any work performed to the base building is classified as Commercial
Any work performed to a building with a Commercial/Industrial use is classified as Commercial/Industrial

Terms and Conditions

A permit is issued on the understanding that the information and material provided by or on behalf of the applicant and/or homeowner in support of its issuance is accurate, correct and complete. The City of Lethbridge may revoke or suspend the permit by written notice to the applicant and/or homeowner if any information or material provided by or on behalf of the applicant is false, inaccurate or incomplete, or if the permit has been issued in error, or if the work authorized by the permit is contrary to any bylaw of the City of Lethbridge or any Provincial regulation.  

If this permit is revoked or suspended, all work authorized by it must immediately cease and the City of Lethbridge may issue a Stop Work Order on the project.  

Any applicable fees are based on the information that the applicant and/or homeowner has provided. Additional or revised fees may be required after the assessment of an application. Application fees may or may not be refunded in accordance with the appropriate City of Lethbridge bylaw.  

Every permit issued by a Safety Codes Officer shall expire and become null and void if the work authorized by the permit is not commenced within 90 days from the date of permit issuance, or if the work authorized by the permit is suspended or abandoned for a period of 120 days at any time after the work is commenced.  

The property owner is responsible for contacting Alberta One Call and having all utility locations marked prior to construction. Permission to build over any utility must be approved by that utility company. 

Any personal information collected on this application is collected under the Safety Codes Act and the Municipal Government Act and in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. The information is required and will be used for issuing permits, safety codes compliance verification and monitoring, utility services, planning & development purposes, and property assessment purposes.
