City of Lethbridge traffic monitoring cameras are used by Infrastructure Services staff for traffic engineering purposes (e.g., assessing the effectiveness of traffic system and efficiency measures like traffic signal timing plans). While a small number of the City’s traffic monitoring cameras allow the public to access to real-time traffic information through the City’s website, individual vehicles or people are not monitored and are configured to prevent the collection of any personally identifiable information.
Closures, Repairs and Improvements
Closures, Repairs and Improvements
We continually perform repairs and upgrades to the infrastructure and facilities in our City. Planned and unplanned work is required to keep our city running smoothly and sometimes this results in a temporary disruption of service. Below is a map showing current and upcoming closures and improvements.

Traffic Camera FAQs
What steps are taken to protect my privacy?
Can I get a copy of or view traffic camera footage?
A small number of cameras are configured to feed video back to the City’s information systems in Infrastructure Services, but it is not possible to provide the public with access to camera footage. This is because the footage is only used for immediate traffic monitoring and management purposes. Once it has served its immediate purpose, footage is regularly overwritten to make space for new data. This helps to manage storage space and ensures the system runs efficiently.
