Grants and Support

The City of Lethbridge offers a variety of grants, incentives and financial supports for organization initiatives that are providing social and economic benefit to the community, such as facility development and redevelopment and event planning.

Organizations that are purchasing, constructing, renovating or retrofitting affordable and social housing units in our community may qualify for the Affordable and Social Housing Capital Grant (ASHCG).

The City of Lethbridge’s Business Improvement Loan provides interest-free loans up to $15,000 for downtown businesses to improve the appearance and/or function of their business, with interest paid for by the Heart of Our City Committee. Approved loan requests are paid out in monthly instalments.

The Community Capital Projects Grant offers financial support to eligible not-for-profit groups that are constructing, renovating or retrofitting their facilities.

 

Our Community Event Support Grant provides funding for eligible not-for-profit organizations to run events and develop new events.

 

The purpose of the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Grant is to provide City of Lethbridge funds to support commercial property owners and/or their tenant(s)/business owners with permanent property improvements that enhance security and crime prevention measures.  This program is a 50 percent matching grant of eligible, pre-approved, pre-tax expenses up to a maximum grant of $5,000.

The Industrial Municipal Tax Incentive reduces municipal taxes for eligible local industries that are redeveloping or expanding their facilities.

 

Our Major Community Event Hosting Grant provides funding to host large events that positively impact the local economy and enhance the profile and visibility of the city.

 

Not-for-profit organizations in the City of Lethbridge can apply for a Make Your Mark: One-Time Grant Funding Opportunity intended to support in completing Capital projects for eligible facilities. The purpose of this one-time grant opportunity is to provide and prioritize not-for-profit organizations in the capital development of their community facilities. 

Downtown businesses can apply to borrow patio and parklet infrastructure from the City.

 

The City of Lethbridge is opening a Call for Proposals (CFP) to solicit requests for one-time investments, purchases of materials and equipment under an Reaching Home (RH) eligible program that align with the funding parameters of RH to advance community wellbeing outcomes by addressing those needs, gaps, and strategic priorities identified in the updated Community Wellbeing and Safety Strategy (CWSS), Municipal Housing Strategy (MHS), and Needs Assessment.

Initiatives, events and programs that are activating vacant and underutilized spaces in downtown Lethbridge may qualify for the Re-Imagine Downtown Activation Grant.

 

The Targeted Redevelopment Incentive offers a tax incentive for targeted redevelopment projects in our urban core districts.

 

The Urban Core Property Improvement Grant provides a 50% matching incentive up to a maximum of $175,000 per property for improvements in the urban core.
