Lethbridge City Council voted to accept a submission on the new innovative partnership between Community Social Development (CSD), Lethbridge Police Service and the Watch Program. This will include access to resources as part of the City’s encampment response, including two dedicated outreach specialists who will provide case planning to connect individuals to the system of care and support their individual needs. Council has approved a new pilot program for the upcoming winter season. Thanks to community feedback, the City’s Transportation Operations team put forward an amendment to the Phase Two Snow and Ice Control program. The amendment aims to assist residents on snow routes who need an extra hand. Read the full news release here

Council approved the Climate Adaptation Strategy and Action Plan (CASAP). This guiding document provides direction for continued planning of extreme weather and climate change to best position the community to be resilient when facing the challenges posed by extreme weather. As part of the Consent Agenda approval, the following items were carried: CC-72: Customer Code of Conduct Policy, Land Acknowledgement Statement Update, Bylaw 6450 - Amendment to Procedure Bylaw 6250, and Government Relations & Advocacy Update

Bylaw 6449 - Land Use Bylaw Amendment re: The Crossings Phase 9 (1205 30 St. W) carried first reading. A Public Hearing will take place on September 17, 2024, at 3 p.m.
