Partnership to enhance the River Valley Trail Network
The Parks & Cemeteries team (Parks) is thrilled to announce a formal partnership with the Lethbridge Trail Alliance (LTA). The LTA is a community group dedicated to creating safe and lasting trails in Lethbridge. It works to protect unique coulee landscapes while offering great recreational experiences.
This collaboration has been in the works since 2022. It marks a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to improve the River Valley Trail Network. Through a shared commitment to enhancing local trails, Parks and LTA aim to improve and expand the existing network. The end goal is safer, more sustainable and more enjoyable pathways for all users.
“These types of community-driven partnerships have proven very successful in other Municipalities and recreational trail communities,” says Andrew Sommerville, Parks Planning Manager. “It’s a testament to the hard work, dedication and shared vision the LTA and Parks have fostered in recent years.”
The collaboration also highlights LTA’s role as trail advocates and stewards. The group oversees trail maintenance, volunteer coordination and promoting responsible use. The partnership also formalizes LTA as the key stakeholder in planning a sustainable network of trails.
