Waste & Environment 2023 Annual Report

The Waste Utility & Environment department is pleased to share our 2023 Annual Report. In an effort to promote transparency, this third installment will highlight some of the projects provided to the community over this past year.

The report includes performance measures, projects, and plans from all four services areas:

1. Waste Collection,
2. Waste Processing,
3. Education & Outreach, and
4. Sustainability.

This annual report shares information that supports the residential and business waste diversion strategies that have been presented to City Council in previous years. It also showcases the work completed and planned to meet current and future waste reduction targets. Projects included in the 2023 Annual Report include, but are not limited to:

• The launch of the Curbside Organics Program and Organics Processing Facility
• Development of the Climate Adaptation Plan & Strategy
• Creation of the City’s Water Conservation Plan
