    Lethbridge’s River Valley is home to a wide array of animals. Residents are never surprised to see deer, turtles or snakes. But there’s another type of serpent hiding in plain sight.

  • Elm tree pruning ban begins April 1

    To prevent the spread of Dutch Elm Disease (DED) a province-wide pruning ban for all species of elm trees is in effect from April 1 to September 30, 2024. Pruning elm trees during this time exposes wounds that could provide entry sites for Elm Bark Beetles, a carrier of the DED fungus.

    Efficiently watering trees ensures the urban forest will continue to thrive. This is especially important during periods of drought.

  • City prepares to celebrate Earth Day

    Earth Day is on the horizon! The City of Lethbridge is gearing up to celebrate and advocate for the environment. Please join us for a day of education and action Saturday, April 20 at Legacy Park with a range of activities planned for all ages.

  • Lake Ice and Outdoor Skating

    Lethbridge has four designated skating areas. Ice conditions are checked at least once a week. Ice surfaces will be closed if conditions are unsafe for users. Ice conditions can change depending on temperature, precipitation, wind and the amount of sunshine. With Lethbridge's varying winter temperatures, it is important to stay safe and informed.

  • Closures, Repairs and Improvements

    ​We continually perform repairs and upgrades to the infrastructure and facilities in our City.  Planned and unplanned work is required to keep our city running smoothly and sometimes this results in a temporary disruption of service.

     

  • Park ‘n’ Bark Lighting Closure

    Beginning tomorrow, November 28, the Park ‘n’ Bark will once again be closed to the public to allow for the completion of the lighting project.

    The work is expected to be completed by end of day Thursday, November 30, weather permitting.

  • Park ‘n’ Bark Upcoming Closure

    Beginning Monday, November 20, the Park ‘n’ Bark will be closed to the public for the installation of light poles and bases.

    The light fixtures will be installed at a later date which will complete the project of lighting the park.

  • Leisure in lumber – search for our newest park feature!

    In a heartwarming display of community spirit and creativity, dedicated City of Lethbridge Parks & Cemeteries worker Garry Brown has undertaken a challenge that is bound to become Lethbridge’s newest attraction.

    Garry, who is the Amenity Services Coordinator, recently completed building an oversized blue Adirondack chair.

  • New play space in Galt Gardens now open

    The new Inclusive and Accessible Play Space at Galt Gardens is now open. Located immediately adjacent to the Rotary Centennial Fountain in the southeast corner of the four-hectare park, the new space features inclusive and accessible play equipment, rubber surfacing, a plaza space and park furniture.
