  • Next steps being considered for Downtown Task Force

    Changes may be coming to the Downtown Lawlessness Reduction Task Force (DLRTF), some of which could provide quicker action to move forward on proposed ideas. Members of the DLRTF made a presentation to the Governance Standing Policy Committee on October 24. Following SPC discussion, a series of recommendations were crafted and will be sent to City Council to consider.

  • Catching Up With Council – Councillor Jeff Carlson

    Preparations are already underway for the next municipal election, scheduled for October 20, 2025. We invited all current Council members to share their thoughts on the first three years of this term. In the coming weeks, we’ll share their insights and priorities as we look toward the next election.

    Next is Councillor Jeff Carlson, who was first elected to Council in 2007 and won a fifth term in 2021.

    Provincial funds are supporting plans to increase capacity at the Lethbridge Water Treatment Plant. Detailed design work will help prepare for much-needed upgrades at the plant.

    The 2025 Council and Standing Policy Committee meeting calendar is set. At its annual Organizational Meeting on Tuesday, Lethbridge City Council approved the meeting calendar and voted to confirm administration appointments to its Boards, Commissions and Committees (BCC).

  • Council repeals historical designations to former buildings

    Two former buildings in Lethbridge have officially had their historic designations removed. On Tuesday, Lethbridge City Council formally passed Bylaw 6451 and Bylaw 6452 – repealing the previous Municipal Historic Resource (MHR) designations to the former Bow On Tong and Manie Opera Society buildings.
