  • New emergency protocols for Whoop-Up Drive now in place

    Lethbridge residents and motorists may recall the traffic incident in June this year that resulted in Whoop-Up Drive coming to a standstill for several hours. The incident provided City staff the opportunity to conduct a substantial review of the Whoop-Up Drive Emergency Traffic Protocol. A revised protocol has now been approved and activated by the City Manager to provide an enhanced response in the event of an incident.

  • Council hears new ideas on Downtown parking changes following partnership with business community

    Following an item in last year’s Operating Budget which proposed parking fine increases, public concern led City Council to direct administration to form a working engagement group with local businesses to find other possible options.

    Lethbridge City Council will convene as Economic and Finance Standing Policy Committee beginning Tuesday, November 14, for an overview of the current economic conditions and the impact they have on the City’s financial position and resources.

  • City to assess incentivizing development for childcare spaces

    For the general benefit of the community, municipalities across the country, including here in Alberta, have taken specific steps to incentivize the development of new childcare spaces. At its meeting Tuesday, Lethbridge City Council voted to direct Administration to complete a childcare needs assessment.

  • Updates from City Council’s Organizational Meeting

    Changes to the Standing Policy Committees (SPC) will begin this week and the 2024 Council and SPC meeting calendar is set. At its annual Organizational Meeting on Tuesday, Lethbridge City Council also voted to confirm administration appointments to its Boards, Commissions and Committees (BCC), as well as to officially rescind the Ward Boundary Commission Bylaw.

    Applications are now open once again for the City of Lethbridge's Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP), which will provide homeowners with a financial tool to support energy efficiency and renewable energy upgrades to their properties.

  • New play space in Galt Gardens now open

    The new Inclusive and Accessible Play Space at Galt Gardens is now open. Located immediately adjacent to the Rotary Centennial Fountain in the southeast corner of the four-hectare park, the new space features inclusive and accessible play equipment, rubber surfacing, a plaza space and park furniture.
