  • Cyanobacteria (Blue-Green Algae) advisory issued for Henderson Lake

    Cyanobacteria, more commonly known as blue-green algae, has been identified in Henderson Lake.

  • Supporting free water refills through the blueW initiative

    As the hot southern Alberta summer continues, more than a dozen Lethbridge businesses are offering a cooling resource. 

    The blueW initiative is a community-based program offering free refills of clean tap water at local businesses.

  • Heritage Day Service Level Changes

    Monday, August 5 is Heritage Day. The City of Lethbridge will have service level changes.

  • Sewer repair closes short stretch of 6 Avenue South

    An unscheduled sewer main repair has closed a portion of 6 Avenue South. The avenue is closed in both directions between Mayor Magrath Drive South and 6a Avenue South (the driveway into ATB Financial.)

  • Stormwater main repairs close Mayor Magrath Drive

    Crews are working to repair an emergency stormwater main and have closed Mayor Magrath Drive South from 5 Avenue to 3 Avenue South to complete the repair work. 

  • Lethbridge’s River Valley fire ban remains in effect

    The City of Lethbridge’s River Valley fire ban remains in effect. The wildfire danger in Lethbridge remains EXTREME. Ongoing heat, low humidity and wind are creating conditions that fuel intense wildfire behaviour. New wildfires can spread rapidly under these conditions.

    In recognition of National Drowning Prevention Week (July 21-27, 2024), Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) is reminding residents and visitors to be safe near water. To help everyone reduce risks while enjoying the Oldman River, or any other water body, LFES has compiled important reminders and tips to keep your family and friends safe.

    Call for community wellbeing proposals due next week

    Eligible individuals, community not-for-profit organizations and for-profit organizations have one week left to submit proposals for funding for initiatives aligned with the Community Wellbeing Call for Proposal (CFP) and Community Wellbeing and Safety Strategy (CWSS). 

  • Whoop Up Drive Night traffic lights
    Road construction impacts for Whoop-Up Drive, plus Crowsnest Trail, from July 22-24

    With the continuation of the Whoop-Up Drive bridge rehabilitation project, crews will be working at night starting Monday, July 22, through Wednesday, July 24. Additionally, starting at 9 a.m. Monday until about 5 p.m. Tuesday, 28 Street South will be closed at Highway 3 (Crowsnest Trail) for water-related work.

    Calling all parents who are looking for a safe and cool way to chauffer their kids to their summer adventures! Lethbridge Transit staff will be at the Lethbridge Farmers’ Market this Saturday sharing information and tips for first-time riders, or anyone wanting to learn more about using the public transit system.
