Chair of the Agenda Review Committee of the City of Lethbridge, Mayor Hyggen has provided notice that the City Council Meeting scheduled for 12:30 P.M. on December 10, 2024 has been rescheduled to begin at 09:30 A.M. in the Council Chamber, City Hall, City of Lethbridge.

When did Lethbridge become a city? Where did we get our name from? What is someone from here called? As November 20 to 26 is Canada History Week, we thought we’d share some background on our city, from its traditional land to its relationship with coal and agriculture, to the High Level Bridge, to being a campus community and its place as Alberta’s Gateway To Opportunity.

The Government of Alberta is implementing changes to the Regulated Rate Option (RRO). As of January 1, 2025, the RRO will be known as the Rate of Last Resort. 

FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITY!

The City of Lethbridge Waste Utility & Environment Department has for the last 25+ years offered the residents of Lethbridge a ‘Christmas Tree Recycling Program’. The Christmas Trees are picked up at each participating household and chipped into wood chips that are used in City parks. We would like to open up this fundraising opportunity to any interested youth groups in Lethbridge. In return for the delivery of the program, the successful youth group will receive a $10,000 honorarium for the city-wide collection program.

The 2025 Re-Imagine Downtown grant is now open for applications with $120,000 in funding available for successful applicants.

If you’ve been looking for the final push to drop off those remaining fall yard waste bags, here it is. Sunday, November 17 is the final day the three City yard waste sites will be open this year. The sites will be closed for the season Monday, November 18.
